Journal 1: Definition Paragraph

Topic: Algorithm

            Algorithm is technical term, according to Google definition, algorithm is a “process or set of rule to be followed in calculation or other problem-solving operation, especially by a computer”, but this definition may seem too specific when it is really not. Every work or operation needs a good sequence of phase to complete and it need algorithm. Actually, not only computer science does the operation of calculation with it, but other tasks also need it too, for example Engineering, Design thinking, architecture, business and so on. Its rule is that where to start, what to do first, what is the next activity, the third one until the final phase. For example, we want to design a mobile phone application interface, firstly we have to think of what is our application about. And then we should consider the color on background, icon and button. Next we should set activity bases on user experience. In addition, this word might apply to many situation which most people don’t notice. Like when you go to market, first of all you prepare yourself, next you ride your motorbike or drive car to market, then go to look for your product that you want, pay the bill and then come back home. This is a simpler example. Moreover, this word is popular in the field of computer science but in other field people might use other words that have the similar meaning. In conclusion, the term algorithm might refer to computer when people first hear it, but this word usually apply most of the situation that most people don’t recognize.
